If it was a grand opening and you were working on the front end, you had to wear them. Otherwise they pretty much left you alone. The grocery and produce guys never wore them. No one wanted to wear the clip on bow ties either. I always wore a black necktie and that satisfied the managers I worked for.Neil Mnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1033289293807518844.post-61974069016796207072008-02-24T19:59:00.000-06:002008-02-24T19:59:00.000-06:00I think one of the female customers in that pic is...I think one of the female customers in that pic is a friend of my grandmaspika23https://www.blogger.com/profile/12818184628417705596noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1033289293807518844.post-4676772723418142482007-10-22T21:38:00.000-05:002007-10-22T21:38:00.000-05:00You know, I kinda like the caps. A few weeks back, the "Katize" blog mentioned this site as part of an article about old supermarket websites, and they showed some photos from Dan Goodsell's "The Imaginary World" website:

http://www.katize.com/2007/08/28/vintage-supermarkets/#comments

One of the commenters made a profound observation about how the photos reminded him "of the time when these jobs paid a respectable wage and help was professional". I definitely agree.Davehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07788722183424550052noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1033289293807518844.post-14364367556852117232007-10-22T17:14:00.000-05:002007-10-22T17:14:00.000-05:00Man, if supermarket workers today had to keep wear...Man, if supermarket workers today had to keep wearing those goofy caps they would stage a revolt.
