Those pillars have recently been covered over. The whole main floor looks like an H&M now. Everything is white from floor to celling. All the character and history is gone. I think the wooden escalators are gone… or going. I'll check the next time I'm in there.Acme Stylehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13314464182867318451noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1033289293807518844.post-86297924284377190342013-12-27T11:01:06.076-06:002013-12-27T11:01:06.076-06:00Macy's seems to reeeeally hate downtown stores...Macy's seems to reeeeally hate downtown stores. In 2013 alone, they axed the former Foley's in downtown Houston, and as little as 8 years before it was closed and demo'd, it still had Foley's offices there. St. Louis also lost the old Famous-Barr, but not before it was cut from 7 to 3 floors, losing a bunch of old escalators in the process.

Department stores seem to be in a pretty sorry state these days: JCPenney's future is uncertain, Sears is continuing to deteriorate, and so forth. Speaking of JCP, love to hear more of that, such as their grocery stores in a few stores.Pseudo3Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17848368606946150471noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1033289293807518844.post-7761658402849587352013-12-26T02:41:04.592-06:002013-12-26T02:41:04.592-06:00As long as they don't mess with the wooden esc...As long as they don't mess with the wooden escalator tops.......Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06260774550818627172noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1033289293807518844.post-1551088988599794382013-12-25T19:15:55.403-06:002013-12-25T19:15:55.403-06:00And the same to you, Steve! And the same to you, Steve!Davehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07788722183424550052noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1033289293807518844.post-52750943481282377282013-12-24T22:56:19.476-06:002013-12-24T22:56:19.476-06:00Merry Christmas, Dave!Merry Christmas, Dave!Livemallshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01567198484359363455noreply@blogger.com
