Of course, a few months later I saw a photo of a Lucky store pylon with only two squares, which sent the theory down the drain! If Charles got it from me, I owe him an apology. :) (Or maybe people in the "two square" pylon areas didn't eat as much!)Davehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07788722183424550052noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1033289293807518844.post-74747114018266904862009-07-25T21:46:55.463-05:002009-07-25T21:46:55.463-05:00Rumor has it the three squares were for the three-...Rumor has it the three squares were for the three-square meals. Although I got that from Romley, who may have gotten from you. It doesn't explain the stores with only two-squares (except for a theory about sign ordinances). Perhaps two square meals was the norm at one time? Adding a third would boost sales ;)<br />ScottScott Parsonshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10967375949115515071noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1033289293807518844.post-3550476824310511742008-02-09T15:03:00.000-06:002008-02-09T15:03:00.000-06:00He has a lot to be proud of, Charles. Seems like most were painted over before they were eventually torn down.Davehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07788722183424550052noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1033289293807518844.post-23887335896632689252008-02-07T16:00:00.000-06:002008-02-07T16:00:00.000-06:00The last 3-sqaure tower remaining is located at 12...The last 3-sqaure tower remaining is located at 1217 Tenth St. in Modesto,CA. The tower retains its original yellow and green colors despite not having been a Lucky since the mid 1970's. The building is currently occupied by a Smart&Final owned Cash and Carry store. The manager of the store is quite proud that the tower is still standing!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1033289293807518844.post-72182596089473122972007-11-16T06:44:00.000-06:002007-11-16T06:44:00.000-06:00I've seen a couple of different postcard views of ...I've seen a couple of different postcard views of the Walnut Creek/Broadway SC store.
